The Summer Run
When the time of summer reaches the wolves, they have a great dance, or run, around the new generation that is now learning the ways of the wolf and how to hunt. They keep this up until dusk, then leave and allow the juveniles to do a dusk to dawn vigile for Tor and Fenris for their acceptence into Toka.
The Winter Run
At the begining of winter, when the females go into heat. The males then do a dance, or run, around the females, from dusk to dusk and then take them away in the night to mate. This is truly important for it marks the next generations official moment of birth, though it is not truly their birth.
The Thunder Howls
Each time there is a great thunder storm the wolves will gather, dancing once more and singing tales of the great sky god, who controls all weather, named Dyuas. These songs go on until the heat of the storm has passed, and then they sit and enjoy the clean air they can breath thanks to Dyuas and his rain.
Day of Stars
Another summer ceremony, taking place in August, when there are truly no clouds and the stars are as bright as day. On this day all wolves sit a silent vigile to the fallen warriors who now run amongst the stars with Tor and Fenris, forever watching over the Toka pack. This day is taken very seriously, and any who disrupt it will be seriously punished.
Hunting Ceremonies
Each time before a hunt the wolf pack comes together and starts off in a chorus of howls, warning the prey aimals that they are on the move. It may sound crazy, but the wolves do not wish to bring down a prey animal that is not yet ready to die, so the howls warn the ones that aren't ready to flee, and the older ones, the weaker ones, stay out to face their fate. Then the wolves start off at a jog, until the hit a scent trail. Then they start into a great sprint, a pack of wild running wolves. When they find the creature, the alpha or alphess will go forward and look the animal in the eye. If they see no fear, they attack. If tehy do, then they know the animal is not yet ready and just didn't have enough time to get away after the chorus.
Tor: The mother wolf, who created all females and takes shape in the great night sky and whose great milky eye is the moon.
Fenris: The father wolf, creator of all the males and takes shape of the great blue sky and whose firey eye is the sun.
Indra: The weather wolf, the creator of storms and clouds. Sometimes, but very rareuly, he'll make his appearence in storm clouds.
Agni: The wolf of fire, coontrols lightning and anything else that has a firey core. She cna always be seen in fire, dancing about.
More to come!
